SwedPedMed is a Swedish independent and non-profit network that works to improve and develop medicines for children in an ethical manner. Since knowledge about children’s medication treatment is limited, SwedPedMed focuses on increasing understanding and safety around medicines provided to children.
The network collaborates with experts in Sweden as well as with Nordic and European networks to conduct clinical studies and develop new medicines. The goal is to ensure that medicines used for children are both effective and safe.
SwedPedMed serves as the Swedish National Hub for C4C. We were involved in the C4C study KD-CAAP, where we successfully recruited 15 study participants through good collaboration between 4 different sites in 3 different cities. SwedPedMed managed large parts of the project management for this study and ranked at the top for included participants in the study.
The network is a Category 1 member of Enpr-EMA, part of TEDDY (The European Network of Excellence for Paediatric Clinical Research) and a member of the NordicPedMed which is the Nordic Investigators Network for Pediatric Medicines. We are also part of a network with multiple sites around Sweden both in national healthcare and regional healthcare.
SwedPedMed is organizationally located at Pediatric Clinical Research Center, which belongs to Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital, Sweden’s largest pediatric hospital and a part of Sahlgrenska University Hospital, located in Gothenburg. The Hospital offers National Specialised Medical Care in 25 areas, including heart and lung transplants and eating disorder treatment. We are part of Sweden’s leading Pediatric Clinical Research Center, a Comprehensive Cancer Center and a partner of several ERNs.
We are driven to provide efficient processes to attract potential stakeholders that want to facilitate high quality clinical trials in our country with the aim of developing medicines for the pediatric population and providing optimal treatment to all children residing in Sweden.
