The success of multinational pediatric clinical trials depends on efficient, high-quality, and scalable trial support services. From 2018 to 2025, the conect4children (c4c) network – a public-private partnership funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative 2 – brought together 10 pharmaceutical companies and 33 academic and third-sector organizations to develop such services across 220+ sites in 21 countries. Using Technology and Service Readiness Level frameworks, the initiative advanced pediatric trial support from concept (SRL1) to near full maturity (SRL8), addressing gaps in site feasibility, communication, and trial coordination. Despite challenges like inconsistent site readiness and data collection methods across companies, c4c has established a sustainable non-profit foundation, conect4children Stichting, to continue supporting industry and academic partners. The project offers valuable lessons for building effective research infrastructures globally.
